leaders ahead of the emergency council on 10 April. It is all very well for MPs and Lords to say they want a postponement, but why on earth should EU leaders agree if there is literally no sense of what the UK actually wants?

As far as I can see this morning, I am the only journalist who thinks the EU may not tonight - after all - force a Brexit delay of nine months to a year on @theresa_may. That presumably means I am just wrong (though there are some in the talks who agree with me). But...

I was going to tag a few people into this thread, who I knew were discussing the subject matter, but I've decided not to & let's just see where it goes.
I just want to make a few observations about the upcoming EP elections & the Remain 'strategy'. But first - #Brexit and #Trump.
There are distinct parallels between how the Trump and Brexit campaigns were co-ordinated. The one I want to focus on is the ability of both campaigns to successfully unite their core support (both roughly 37% of the electorate) under a single issue.
That issue is Nationalism.
Now I realise that other strings hang off that issue, but it is at the heart of everything emanating from both Trump and Brexit Leavers.
And this is where they have the advantage over both US Liberals and UK Remainers.
Because as Remainers, we *know* Brexit is complicated.

NEO LONDON, England, December 2125 -- The last surviving participant of the 2016 EU Referendum died today aged 127. Emily Jackson had just turned 18 when the referendum was held, and voted to Remain. [THREAD]
To mark this historic occasion, the UK government has announced it is abandoning #Brexit and revoking Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union. The UK will remain part of the EU, just as Emily and the vast majority of her generation wished.
Article 50 was first triggered in March 2017. Following the surprise result of the referendum, the government panicked and started the clock on a two-year window for the UK to negotiate a withdrawal agreement with the remaining EU member states.
