Today is “#EqualPayDay.”

There are a lot of ridiculous holidays—from “International Talk Like a Pirate Day” to “Have a Party With Your Bear Day” to “Bubble Gum Day.”
But “Equal Pay Day” is something worse. It’s a misleading effort designed to make women feel like they’re all, inevitably, being short-changed in their workplaces. That’s not the case.
Here’s the truth:
✅ Wage discrimination is illegal and has been in the U.S. since 1963, when the Equal Pay Act was signed into law.
✅ The 1964 Civil Rights Act also protects women from baseless gender discrimination in the workplace.
#EqualPayDay is based on a misleading interpretation of wage data
✅ The #wagegap doesn't take into account variables like profession, education, experience, benefits, work conditions or hrs worked
✅ It doesn’t compare men & women w the same jobs, experience, training, or hrs
✅ The #wagegap is not a measure of “#equalpayforequalwork.” Instead, it’s largely a reflection of individual choices about work among women and men.
When controlling for relevant factors, the pay gap shrinks to $0.98.
While we can all rally behind “equal pay for equal work,” “#EqualPayDay” is unnecessary and misleading. It is just another excuse for those on the Left to draw divisions among men and women.
Instead, we should champion greater opportunities, flexibility, and freedom so women can choose how, when, and where we work. Join us as we push back against the “#EqualPayDay” false narratives and put out the facts today. bit.ly/2COH29G #FactsMatter #EqualPay #WageGap
