The arguments against this amendment in the Lords (waitingfortax.com/2019/04/04/an-…) are so reminiscent of the arguments about why I was wrong to pursue the Wightman case (and are being made by many of the same people). Here's what I'm saying to them about why the amendment is needed.
Here's what the EU Council Decision says about an extension beyond 12 April. Nothing in the Cooper/Letwin Bill puts the PM under any obligation to "indicate a way forward... for consideration". So it's as easy as you like for the PM to sidestep it.
And all the signs are that that's exactly what she's choosing to do. Isn't this exactly what you'd say today if you were her and had decided to go for No Deal?
