Let’s start with the basics.

Bannon scared the shit out of us (and everyone else) for like a year and a half after we started this, so this was...shall we say...something to behold.

It has been a challenging couple of years personally doing this project. This is a good moment.

Now let’s get down to business...We’ve known for awhile that Breitbart has had financial issues, but because they were private, we didn’t know the magnitude. Now we do. The 90% ad revenue cut seems to be a real number, as it comes from someone who would know.

What was equally interesting is that the majority of the ad exchanges cut off Breitbart, as @AppNexus did. But who is left?

@google, @facebook & @amazon. The three biggest players. Despite breaking their Terms of Service for ads (the 1st two), they still serve ads to the site.

Think about it. Why would @google & @Facebook continue to serve their unknowing customers there? Politics? Maybe. Fear of regulation? Likely.

Because of this, Breitbart was able to take advantage of this situation to the tune of $8 million a year in unknowing advertisers’ dough!

Until we came along, @google and @Facebook were helping Breitbart bilk unknowing advertisers out of their money while potentially damaging their brand’s reputation in the process. And THEY STILL ARE!

This can and should be the basis for a class action suit by advertisers.

Now let’s get to the Swedish Nazi guy. This is potentially more interesting. @slpng_giants_se took on this guy’s propaganda site and eventually, @google delisted the site as it broke their Terms. So why doesn’t Breitbart fit the bill?? Same situation, different country.

What is WILD is that both the Swede and Bannon knew the program. Have websites crank out racist vitriol for profit and propaganda while using advertiser dollars to do it. THAT WAS THEIR BUSINESS MODEL! Because @google and @facebook weren’t watching the switch. Gross.

Next, Bannon gives up the game here. Big time. He understands well that the ad game is coming to an end. We happen to expose the issue and there’s no going back.

Breitbart is completely funded now by the Mercer family. They are probably cutting most of the checks.

And, as Bannon said, this is the only way to finance racist, xenophobic propaganda sites moving forward. Daily Caller = Kochs, Daily Wire = Wilks Bros, Federalist = ??. There is no business model in it. These sites denigrate minorities & women to do the bidding for billionaires.

But that’s their prerogative. They’re paying for them.

As for advertisers, they need to understand what they’re funding. Ad networks, social platforms and websites still on the exchanges are taking advantage of them & profiting while risking their customers’ brand reputation.

Oh yeah, and Steve Bannon eating is not something we ever need to see again.
