This is maybe an unpopular opinion but I think the 2008 Democratic primaries might have featured more 'negative attacks' than the 2016 Democratic primaries. For example, here's Obama responding to Clinton's attacks in April 2008.

I wonder where the 2020 primaries will head.

There were even negative TV ads in 2008! I don't think there were many (any?) from either Clinton or Sanders during the 2016 Democratic primaries.

Here's Clinton attacking Obama for taking campaign donations from oil and gas corporations and lobbyists.

Everyone needs to watch this video of @SenFeinstein disparaging literal children from @SunriseMvmt calling on her to support @AOC and @SenMarkey’s Green New Deal.

For years, the top of the Democratic Party has been wealthier, whiter, and more conservative than the base of the party.

The Democratic Party looks a lot more like AOC than Feinstein, Schumer, Durbin, and their big corporate donors.

We need change.

One major issue with CAP's attempt to rebrand Medicare For All as Medicare Extra:

Medicare Extra could genuinely undermine Medicare by forcing Medicare to compete with private insurance corporations.

It's not idealism vs gradualism. Medicare Extra could be a step backward.
Medicare's model is universal social insurance like Social Security.

Everyone pays taxes and once you’ve reached a certain age you’re covered.

But Medicare Extra might cause the sickest to be pushed out of private insurance and onto the public system.
By taking on the sickest and forcing the public Medicare system to continue competing with private insurance corporations -- you’ll force Medicare to start acting like a private insurance company in a race to the bottom.

This could mean rising copays, deductibles, and premiums.

This is maybe an unpopular opinion, but the “white people can be terrorists, too!” line, while well-meaning or whatever, isn’t....particularly good.
“White people can be terrorists, too!” isn’t a useful take in a state whose original sins are genocide followed by chattel slavery but created “terrorist” as a designation specifically to criminalize non-white people.
I think that expanding that designation to include white supremacist violence without troubling its foundation legitimizes a racist order where “brown terrorist” is normative and distances acts of “white terrorism” from the racial terror that founded this state.

1. So the whole discussion of "intellectual dark web," conservatives in liberal media etc. confuses two issues: should non-conservatives read right-wing authors (yes) & should liberal magazines publish right-wing authors (it depends).
2. People should read right-wing authors, definitely. Why? Because there are a lot of right-wingers out there (Trump is president, duh) and it's important to understand what they think (to understand the world & to fight against him).
3. But in terms of reading the right, it's often most valuable to read the worst & least persuasive writers. Since 1980s, most valuable writers for understanding right have been Pat Buchanan & Sam T. Francis.

Again, this one's difficult to explain to folks not personally familiar with doing ag on a day to day basis

and keep in mind that I'm in veggie/fruit farming, YMMV with meat/dairy/grain etc, and "east coast" in this instance p much means "everywhere except CA"
But basically, the east coast approach is basically: farming is a ~lifestyle~

West coast: farming is a JOB
eastern US: countryside is slower-paced. ahh nature. sometimes you get stuck behind slow-moving tractors!
