Corporate monopoly of seeds & dominating research & breeding, poses a massive threat not only to #biodiversity but food sovereignty- Seeds bred for profit not for food security. Corporates also working to criminalise farmer seed systems & farmers' rights to share & breed #seed
Seed laws only speak to the commercial sector who are Privatising the commons of genetic resources. corporates then influence states to subsidise their privatised seed. #ResilientLivlihoods&ClimateJustice2019
80% of the world's food is produced by small holder farmers who also prefer their own seed over commercial seed. Local seed is adapted to local ecology & social contact, resilient to climatic changes. For farmers resilience is more NB than maximum yields #ResilientLivlihoods

#YoungPeople have to resist corporate plunder of our food system and genetic resources. We need to push for the recognition and protection of farmer seed systems in polices and laws if the next generation wants to eat!
