What a great and glorious morning and what historical news to wake up to. I'm in tears. The people of Sudan have unseated their tyrant of 30 years. Omar Bashir is no longer in power.
Omar Bashir is reportedly under house arrest. Other top regime officials are also being detained. Reminder that the entire bunch is wanted by the ICC for war crimes.
And here's a reminder that it's not over until a new civilian government chosen democratically by the people takes power. This isn't over, but it's a huge milestone and a cause to celebrate
It's also an event of massive symbolic and historical significance. All the sanctions in the world didn't unseat Bashir, instead they hurt the Sudanese people and tightened Bashir's grip. It was the Sudanese people who did the job, in a few short months, without a single bullet.

This is not a moment to be cynical. Cynicism is obedience in advance. This is the time to celebrate and to renew resolve, it's not over until a civilian government chosen by the people is in power.
