For those who missed it, @CPC_HQ distributing a “tax guide” to constituents that is blatantly misleading & could cost you $.

2/ If you’re a family, @cpc_hq “tax guide” won’t tell you about Canada Child Benefit. Which means up to ~ $6,500 / $5,500 per year per child.

You register for CCB through CRA and/or as part of your birth registration.

3/ If you’re looking to help your child save for education, you’ll want to know about the Canada Learning Bond.

It’s up to $2,000 for low income families who open an RESP.

You won’t find it in the @cpc_hq “tax guide”.

4/ If you’re caring for a loved one, the “tax guide” tells you to use the Family Caregiver Tax Credit.

Except it no longer exists.

In 2017, it + others were replaced by Canada Caregiver Credit which is more generous and more flexible.

5/ The “guide” says the new Canada Workers Benefit is “similar” to the previous WITB.

That’s false.

The new CWB provides more help nearly 2 million workers.

A single mom earning $25k will get $717 more this year. More than 2x as much.

And lifts 75,000 out of poverty.

6/ The “guide” also takes a moment to tell you that CPP is a “tax hike”.

It isn’t. It’s an investment in your future. Your savings.

So you have a more secure retirement.

The @cpc_hq voted against this and brought a motion at committed to roll it back.

7/ Finally, it repeats Fraser Institute talking point that taxes have increased on the middle class.

That is 100% false.

Since @justintrudeau took office 90%+ of families have more $ today compared to 2015 tax system.
