Writing makes you a clearer thinker.
And being a clearer thinker makes you more emotionally stable.
Do this:
1. Identify 1 bad habit.
2. Whenever you want to carry out the bad habit, write instead
Your neural pathways will rewire
Yep.
I call it active meditation.
And it can alter your life.
But more importantly, making it a habit is deadly
Time for some neuroscience 101
You can't see the mind, therefore it affects your awareness.
Many newbie meditators quit for this reason.
And it becomes easier to keep your focus on the present vs. drifting off to your thoughts.
You just need to be consistent.
You're actively engaging with your mind.
You're getting the thoughts from the internal to the external.
This has you feeling much more involved.
But in order to break out of a bad habit, it's MUCH better to have an active approach from my experience.
You need something that makes you feel involved.
Which is why writing is lifechanging.
Habits = acts you do on autopilot.
Some habits are beneficial, some are destructive.
Because it is ingrained in you at this point.
You have solidified neural pathways for this act.
Which is why:
You don't stop bad habits, you REPLACE bad habits.
This method is much more effective & leads to long term success.
1. Identify your trigger - This is an impulse that activates the habit in the first place. You need to make yourself AWARE.
2. Replace - Once identified, replace bad habit with good habit.
3. Be consistent & build momentum.
4. Solidify pathways.
Anything to be honest.
You can begin writing about the sensations you are feeling by avoiding the bad habit. Say your bad habit is smoking.
Talk about how you physically feel & the thoughts you are experiencing.
Being a better writer leads to:
Clarified thinking
Emotional intelligence
Finding your voice
Connecting with your subconscious mind
Enhanced communication skills
And much more
Write to rewire your life.
