Quick everybody yell at me because not supporting your person guarantees 4 more years of Trump and I’m a neoliberal shill!
Absolute not gonna happen for me are:
- Joe Biden
- Beto
- Klobuchar
- Tim Ryan

Everyone else is either basically even in my mind or irrelevant
All that said I’d vote for fuckin Mitt Romney in the general if he won’t the democratic primary. So really my main thing is to get Trump out cuz idk if we can even survive him.
Update. Since posting this Mike Gravel followed me on twitter so he has moved up at a minimum one spot.

The notion that elections depend on who can convince the most people to vote for them versus the other candidate is false and dangerous. Elections depend on who can convince people to vote. Period.
Swing voters might be a real thing if we had mandatory voting, automatic registration or at least a national holiday for Election Day. But until then, you win elections by convincing ALL of your potential supporters to actually vote.
You do that by appealing to your base who can energize the rest of your potential votes. You don’t do this by appealing to the “middle” and trying to convince your opposition to switch sides. You can also do this by convincing your opponents base to stay home.

I already didn’t like Avenatti but focusing on poor black players moms getting a few thousand dollars and shaming their family as he wasn’t even paying taxes and makes millions really pisses me off. Fuck that guy.
We already knew the players like Zion and Ayton were getting paid. Guess what, we wish they were getting paid more, legally, and all of them. So fuck you.
Hate that guy. Go pay your taxes you fucking asshole.

So per @NBCNews, these are the latest fundraising rankings.
These are significant because #Warren is after #Sanders and #Harris in the polls where they rank 1st and 2nd (not counting Biden since he's not in) but her fundraising is below #Booker.
As these money rankings stay, Warren is in trouble for the debates like Castro and Gillibrand are because of the rules on how fundraising numbers = viability. Not making the debates would be terrible since #Warren & #Gillibrand are the most progressive & #Castro the only Latinx.
Also, these daily totals are averaged, but they aren't representative as a metric because all these candidates entered at different times & Sanders never stopped fundraising from 2016.
The question is, how much is no big donors hurting #Harris & #Warren?

1. What are your policies ?

2. Are you proposing them in good faith?

3. Will you be effective in implimenting them?

4. are you fit for office?

Whether a politician is seen as operating in good faith is often tied to whether we think a politician is "authentic."

This shit is huuuuuuugely sexist and priveledges men over women.

When I wrote the above thread about misplaced romanticism over the Nordic countries as models of socialism (BTW, those countries quite rightly don't view themselves as socialist), I thought I should let the American socialists save face by averting their gaze from Venezuela.
But now that Bret Stephens has gracefully reminded us through the pages of NY Times that in the age of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the lesson must be learned again that yes, Venezuela is a socialist catastrophe, I am compelled to complete the picture, using Bret's own words.

The insistence by white male writers that there is a two-white-man race out there between Bernie & Beto is so deeply, stunningly misogynist, it takes my breath away.

How is it POSSIBLE that these folks missed the blue wave which was fundamentally female--driven by women voters?
Not just driven by women voters, but driven by women candidates. Left-leaning women candidates, including WOC who ousted long-time older white male incumbents like....Bernie Sanders.

How is anyone missing this fact?
It's a major reason why Sanders' numbers have plummeted.

allow me to explain:

first thing to realize is that compromise usually involved splitting the difference (e.g. arbitration -- if you've ever been privy, you know exactly what i mean).

next you need to understate that starting positions matter
now we come to the republicans..

they know to start out WAY to the right of anything sane

democrats, being slightly more reasonable tend to open with somthing they thing will win the other side over to their POV.

... it ... will ... not ....

so this happens.
after a few years of this (say since 1980) you end up with both parties being FAR to the right of anything that a rational person would consider CENTER

enter #bernie sanders and his populist, moderate policy positions like #medicareforall or raising the minimum wage
