It is instructive that our pre-scheduled Bible study during family prayer this morning included Numbers 27. This Chapter tells the story of the Daughters of Zelophehad who arose, spoke up & challenged a status quo statute in Israel & God ruled in their favor.
#WomenSpeakingUp.

I have for decades modeled the #WomenSpeakingUp choice. Regardless of the price one pays for it in the vilest and most vicious things that will be thrown at you as a woman determined to use her Voice, I have always encouraged Girls and women to use their Voice.
It is vital.

We must therefore not raise our Daughters to be shrinking violets that are “shut down” for using their Voice.

To build an inclusive, just, fair and equitable society, we need #WomenSpeakingUp.

Everyone must learn to respect their Voice even if they dislike what it says.

As part of the growth of Nigeria into a Democratic society, we would need to fight until there is consensus that men who resort to slut-shaming and throwing the vilest of slander at a woman just because of #WomenSpeakingUp deserves legal and social sanctions.
It is abominable.

I have built an internal system that refuses to break just because in exercising my right to #WomenSpeakingUp all kinds of fellows and groups take pleasure in throwing lies, the vilest and wildest of slander at me.
Not many people can take it so women’s Voices become suppressed.

It is my duty as a Woman who uses her Voice (regardless of the price I constantly pay for doing so) to persist in encouraging many more of #WomenSpeakingUp . Our Development journey will be faster and inclusive once we have more Voices of women in how NIGERIA is governed.

I have watched one of my closest younger female friends- @AishaYesufu -grow into one of the greatest holders of the #OfficeOfTheCitizen in this country. Aisha’s use of her Voice has been exemplary for both women and some men. The ones who brutally assault her daily are weaklings.

Our Daughters must all be raised to be as bold and courageous to always use their Voice as Zelophehad’s five daughters — Mahlah, Noa, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah that we read of in Numbers 27:1-11 today.

Nothing and no one can ✋ it.

Today, I celebrate every #WomenSpeakingUp .

Keep at it.

Never allow lying detractors shut you down.

Your Voice is Valid.

Lies may travel ahead and wide but trust me, the liars ultimately get their comeuppance.

The Truth is around the corner.
