Our fair-weather friend: “Lily White” Moderate Republicanism

The Republican Party's “race” problem did not start with Donald Trump, and it will not end with Donald Trump.

It started over a century ago with its embrace of “The Lily White Movement”.

The number one enabler of anti-black racism and bigotry in The Republican Party (for over a century) has been moderate Republicanism.

At almost every turn, it whored Itself out for a few coins, to white-supremacy! In the day, it smiled in Black people’s face, but in the dark of night it conspired and stabbed black Republicanism in the back.

Today, we must ask ourselves:

Who are these so-called “Never Trumpers?” What were they doing before Trump was elected? Doing to create a space for minorities in the Republican Party? You don’t see too many people of color in their circles.

They say they’re a defensive wall (some sort of bulwark) against white-supremacy, a bulwark to protect “conservative values”.

Going to to take on racism/identity without conservatives-of-color — a bulwark? Sounds more like a weak-wobbly-wall destined to crash.

How are you going to be a bulwark against a movement you helped empower?

If you listen to some of them it’s like Barry Goldwater all over again! It’s the same colorblind rhetoric all over again.

It’s the same tone-deafness and outright indifference that gave us Trump.

Minority conservatives must wonder — what is this? Is this a genteel and colorblind brand of the same shit, is it an attempt to empower white conservative voices whilst ignoring minority voices?

These are questions we must ask.

Bulwark? Hmm. Ha.

Yeah. Okay. 👍🏿

This is why Black conservativsm must build.
