I’m really stuck on how Mueller has made public that two criminal conspiracies aided Trump’s 2016 election: One by Russia, one involving Trump/Cohen/hush money. It’s now clear Trump would have been criminally charged in both if he wasn’t president.... (1/3)
As “Individual-1,” he’d face a conspiracy to commit campaign finance violations charge with the hush money payments, and he’d be charged with obstruction in Mueller’s if he was anyone DOJ could actually charge.... (2/3

1) SHORT THREAD: If today (or the near future) marks the end of Mueller's probe—regardless of what it finds—let's celebrate the not-minor victory that the rule of law held. Mueller was able to pursue his case to its conclusion. At plenty of moments that didn't seem likely....
2) It shouldn't seem like a victory that Mueller was never fired, that Rosenstein was never fired, that Rachel Brand or Noel Francisco never faced the dilemma of a "Saturday Night Massacre," but given the circumstances and the environment it is....
3) And we owe credit to people like Rod Rosenstein and Don McGahn who helped make it possible. They made it possible for Mueller to do what DOJ is supposed to do: Pursue justice, without fear or favor....

1) SHORT THREAD: I've said versions of this over the last two years, but it's worth restating my bias in the Mueller probe, as we await the final report, which might be just hours away now: I hope Mueller finds nothing....
2) And I think every American should hope Mueller finds nothing—Trump supporters, Democrats, reporters, pundits, all of us have a dog in this fight—and we should hope Trump's innocent, that there is "no collusion"....
3) I hope Mueller comes out and says everything around Trump and Russia is a big, awkward, odd series of coincidences and misunderstandings, that Trump never conspired with Russia, never obstructed justice, and the Trump campaign didn't know about the GRU/IRA attacks....
