Google's April FEC filing is up and it is full of interest. Google comes out strong right out of the gate with a $2500 donation to Mitch McConnell.
Here's Wikipedia on Pete Olson: "Olson sponsored the Civil Rights Uniformity Act of 2016 (HR 5812) which would strictly limit the definition of gender to the person's biological gender assigned at birth." Google just gave his campaign $1000.
In the same spirit, in 2016 Rep. Martha Roby said the Obama administration had "lost their minds" when they encouraged states to let transgender public school kids use the bathroom of their choice. Google gave her campaign $1000 in March.
Rob Portman has repeatedly voted to defund Planned Parenthood, and sponsored legislation to make it a crime to transport a minor across state lines to get a legal abortion if it circumvents state laws mandating parental involvement. Google gave his leadership PAC $5000
In 2017, thousands of Google employees came out to protest Trump's travel ban. Google just gave $2000 to re-elect one of the ban's staunchest defenders, Steve Daines.
On the eve of the 2018 election, Chuck Grassley strongly endorsed Steve King (facebook.com/KingforCongres…) , the openly white supremacist Iowa congressman. [Disclosure: I fundraised for King's opponent]. Even though Grassley is not up for election until 2022, Google gave him $2500.
In 2017, Greg Gianforte slammed a Guardian reporter to the ground and began punching him. He was later cited for misdemeanor assault. Major Montana newspapers rescinded their endorsement of Gianforte, but Google gave him $1000 on March 28
Here's Google giving $15K each to the National Republican Senatorial and Congressional Committees
An entity called "Making America Prosperous PAC" gave Steve King (the white supremacist congressman) $5000 in 2018, and Google gave them $5000 last month. Indirection!
If you work at Google, you can shut this stuff down. Talk to your fellow employees donating to Google NETPAC (you can find a full list in the filing here (docquery.fec.gov/pdf/227/201904…) and make sure they know where their donations are going.
You can see right from the filing that pretty much everyone who gives to Google NETPAC is donating by payroll deduction. This means they agreed to give part of their paycheck to political donations and haven't thought about it since. Many likely don't know what they're funding.
