Let's be clear, families with children having special needs absolutely REQUIRE safeguards to allow for the difficulties that absolutely NO ONE could plan for.

How do you plan for a child to have an autistic meltdown? These can go on for a LONG time. An hour? Sometimes more.
If flexible work schedules are not made mandatory by law and some form of safe zone from judgement not mandated by law, as cases of children with autism rises, more parents will be run out of the workforce.

Not getting this is unacceptable.
If this sounds shocking to you, then wake the hell up!
Raising a special needs child is an incredibly rewarding experience but is extremely challenging and there is no way to survive in a capitalist environment where the bosses and policies are tone deaf to special needs and written by conservatives.
This must be part of a contract with America, a New Deal that protects the families of children and adults with special needs. The discrimination and abuse must end.
