I’m not telling you to be passive in the face of injustice, but I will tell you not to waste all the fire in you consumed in judgment of “them.” God does judge. Where there is not life, beauty & mercy, Spirit moves on...& has moved on. What could be a fate worse than that?
In their accusation, they accuse & imprison themselves. In their condemnation, they condemn themselves. The world gets smaller & smaller, until they live in a reality without children, laughter, surprise...grace. Do you think they are to be envied?
Our judgment becomes corrupt because we still envy the power of those we judge, instead of seeing their “power” is no power at all, but imprisonment. Nobody is as oppressed as the oppressor. The torment they cause is less than the torment that burns in them endlessly.
I have no interest in tone policing anyone ever, much less telling anyone not to be angry. Anger has its place. Here’s the test, for me: is your anger at them keeping you from building the thing you’re supposed to build? Is it paralyzing you? Then it’s time to let go.
Sometimes you are called to stay, be the prophetic voice, be on the margin of a thing. Just don’t do it at the cost of your own soul. Sometimes the Spirit has moved on, & you should do—& you have to create space for God to heal you, not for you to reform them.
