1. Facebook is a $546B company that will have a major impact on the 2020 election.

Trump named the guy who ran his 2016 Facebook strategy as his campaign manager.

He's bragged about using unethical practices on Facebook to Trump's advantage in 2016

3. This automated system DOES NOT WORK. I identified hundreds of Trump campaign ads that violate Facebook rules by manually reviewing them. I am not a $546 billion company. But somehow I have more resources than Facebook for this task.

2. Yesterday at 1PM, I contacted Facebook and flagged dozens of ads from the Trump campaign that falsely claimed Democrats are advocating "a repeal of the Second Amendment."

This violates Facebook's policy against "false and misleading ads."

3. At 7PM Monday, Facebook confirmed that it had received my question and promised to get back to me. I had given the company a deadline of 10PM.

By Tuesday morning, I heard nothing from Facebook but all the ads that I had flagged were marked "inactive"

1. The last three years have not been good for Facebook. Things started going off the rails after the 2016 election when people discovered that Facebook let its platform be used to disseminate pro-Trump misinformation. popular.info/p/rage-against…
2. Some of the shadiest stuff was done by the Trump campaign itself. In an interview with Bloomberg days before the election, the campaign bragged that it was using Facebook to suppress African- American votes in crucial states. popular.info/p/rage-against…
3. In the aftermath, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg pledged to fix the problem. Usually, he sets an ambitious personal development goal each year, like learning Mandarin. In 2018, Zuckerberg resolved to fix the company. popular.info/p/rage-against…
