I have put together a guide to voting strategically "pro-Remain" in the upcoming 2019 European elections, based on the 2014 results. It's a pretty blunt analogue, because the picture was so different then, but absent detailed polls it's all we have...

The guide (which you can download as a PDF from the link in the previous tweet) is broken down by region (see examples) with a voting recommendation tailored to how the votes fell last time around in each region. If you find it useful, please share it around. Thanks.
IMPORTANT: This is aimed squarely, by design, at people whose first concern is Brexit. It is not meant to be an all-purpose "how to vote" guide.
Finally, this website also provides useful information about who's standing for election in each area.

Absolutely shameful performance by Andrew Adonis on LBC phone-in just now. I live-blogged some of it as the conversation flowed, and you can see that in the embedded thread below. Summary: he is *not* a Remain asset, and shouldn't be considered as such.
It is almost impossible to overstate just how disappointed I feel having to type that. But I have never shied away from reality when it comes to Brexit, and this is just another facet of that.😭
And with that, I've removed him from my private list of interesting Brexit spokespeople I have been following closely. I see no benefit in tracking what he says any more. It's just endless repetition of the "Vote Labour to get Remain" lie. Hopefully others will see through him.

Andrew Adonis: "If what you want to do is Remain, the only party that can make that possible is Labour."

Starts his LBC interview by repeating that lie. Not good.
Reminder: the unashamedly pro-Remain parties are the LibDems, Greens, Change UK, and locally the SNP, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein and Alliance.

Labour is NOT a pro-Remain party. Therefore the notion that Labour can deliver Remain is patently absurd.
Furthermore, Andrew's unlikely to become an MEP anyway, because he's second on the Labour list in an area which is likely to deliver only 1 MEP for Labour, so he won't get a seat.

* the approach outlined (no alliances or pacts, compete with other pro-EU parties) is literally the opposite of a referendum approach (combine/aggregate: seek majority).

Probable Change UK, Greens, LibDems, Renew contest in some regions reduces no of pro-Remain MEPs, eg 4-way split of 15-20% can "waste" votes under PR lists. (Eg waste < 5%, or end wasting 15% = no seats x4 if unlucky)
A particular risk in regions that are smaller & more challenging (eg especially north-east; also east midlands, east of england). It may be important in Wales, where Plaid means 5-way division of non-Labour pro-EU. Scotland a bit different again: major pro-EU party in SNP

UKIP's rise in the last European Elections was meteoric! They only didn't stand in seats they didn't poll well in the election before.
This is despite the fact that the EU average turnout was lowering across member states and the UK traditionally being lower than the EU average

A say in whether the EU enlarges or not.
A say in if the EU federalises or remains a union of independent states.
A say in if there is an EU army.
Being the financial capital through which the majority of € is traded while still keeping the £.

The UK has taken the lead in efforts for EU enlargement. It pushed for the inclusion of Eastern European states. It pushed for Turkey to get its shit together so that it could join (which it made very slow progress with, and has largely been undone by Erdogan)
After #Brexit, the UK will have no influence on EU enlargement. In fact, as setting the EU as a rival, every country that joins the EU will a) strengthen the EU, and b) unravels any trade deals that the UK will have made with that country, isolating it further.
