In response to this I've had some people say how their party (CPC, PSL, FRSO) actually *does* support Indigenous states, and that I'm wrong. Since I was specifically talking about the first two parties when I made this, I disagree. Will explain my position below if ppl care
I've already spent the time to point out my disagreements with the PSL's entire single paragraph on "self-determination" for Native people. A lot of my same disagreements that I have with the PSL apply to the other socialist organizations in the US or Canada.
For example, one disagreement I have with the PSL that applies to the CPC is that "full self-determination up to and including independence" makes no sense. If every Native nation wants independence, which wouldn't be a surprise in the slightest when you speak with Natives...
that means that the US / Canada cease to exist. But these entire parties are predicated on the existence of these states, that's why they have this big long documents determining what they would do if they exist. Specifically in regards to the CPC, I would like to know...
how Native people in Quebec would receive full independence if the Québécois control the province and achieve full independence. Either the Québécois get their nation, or Native people get our nations oppressed by the Québécois. Which, speaking of the Québécois...
Actually nowhere in CPC documents does it say Native people get independence. The CPC support, "just and early settlement of land claims and self-government will help to improve the prospect for the fuller development of several Aboriginal peoples as nations."
So only some Native peoples are able to be nations? And this documents says nothing about independence of Native nations, so I'm guessing that these nations would be under the Canadian state. The document also says, "the right to self-government of Aboriginal peoples."
That doesnt mean we are able to have our own states. The CPC is actually worse than PSL because it can't even go so far as to say independence. It's clear that the CPC wants to recreate Canada that addresses land claims in a way that pacifies Natives but upholds Canada as a state
It's clear that a lot of people don't even realize what their party documents mean or imply. If you're a supporter of these parties, just come out and say you don't support our true independence and sovereignty, or yell at your party leadership until they change it.
Don't come into my mentions and try to explain to me, a Lakȟóta wíŋkte who's read all these documents, that actually I don't understand the actual positions of these parties and need to be shown what they actually mean. I know what they mean, I know they're anti-sovereignty
