Last week, the College Council at @WilliamsCollege denied Williams Initiative for Israel’s (WIFI) request to become a registered student organization even tho the club complied with all CC bylaws for recognition.
It was the first club in over a decade that complied with all @WilliamsCollege College Council bylaws for recognition but failed to gain registered student organization status, according to archived College Council minutes.
This is nothing short of a double standard and an affront to free speech.

@JoeNBC College Council at @WilliamsCollege reasons for denying Williams Initiative for Israel (WIFI) club status included:
@JoeNBC @WilliamsCollege 1) the "well-funded and politically influential" pro-Israel lobby
@JoeNBC @WilliamsCollege 2) that WIFI serving as a space for students who believed the state of #Israel has a right to exist was simply not a strong enough reason to approve the club as a registered student organization.
@JoeNBC @WilliamsCollege 3) in the exact words of @WilliamsCollege CC members Joseph Moore & Jesus Payan: "Both practically & discursively, #Israel does not need a student group defending its 'right to exist' on this campus any more than we need to 'defend' rights of wealthy, straight white men."
