When we ban people from spreading conspiracy theories we can no longer discuss conspiracies.

In 2017, I spread a conspiracy story.

Q: Should I be deplatformed for alleging that the US has a proven ability to destroy lawful US citizens by planting fake news in mainstream media?
Think about this: the US has had a proven history of conspiring repeatedly against its own citizens and destroying lives. Our check against that tyranny is FREE SPEECH/PRESS including the freedom to discuss & test wild hypotheses that begin as...wait for it...conspiracy theories.
Right now, EVERY major platform (@Google, @Apple, @facebook & @Twitter) both spreads and profits from hate, violence, misinformation and offensive speech. I will defend them in the same terms I defend all those they deplatformed pretending that they have a zero tolerance policy.
Furthermore I will again spread my own researched conspiracy theory: the H-1b & the Immigration Act of 1990 were created from a conspiracy inside the @theNASciences & @nsf complex to target and betray our own STEM professionals on behalf of STEM employers: ineteconomics.org/uploads/papers…
Ending conspiracy theories means ending investigative journalism: no My Lai. It means banning Howard Zinn. Not discussing the McCollum memo. Not talking about the Dulles brothers / Kermit Roosevelt. Forgetting the untreated syphilis victims of Tuskegee.

Mathematics is very much about calculations. It is also very much about nature.

Beyond that, it is also about ‘worlds’ of pure necessity and design so far beyond those that are instantiated that it would strain the concept of ‘nature’ beyond recognition to include them in it.
I should admit that the math that describes the operations of nature at her deepest level (e.g. spinors, fiber bundles, symplectic geometry/geometric quantization, Gauge thy, Hilbert spaces, etc...) are actually the parts I’m focused on. But math is like a honey badger to nature.

@seanilling Yes Sean. There are problems of language here. But there‘s a bigger issue. Most of the important parts of mathematics are neither physical nor “socially constructed”. No one could dream them up. The conversation today is however made impossible by language & politics. To sum up:
@seanilling 2/ First there is a careful philosophical tradition that means something precise by “socially constructed” as well as an activist community that means something dismissive and sloppy by the same phrase. Genrerally, the math community has not been overly interested in either.
@seanilling 3/ Most research mathematicians traditionally (but not always) oversold the objective nature of the profession’s norms. This causes historians and philosophers of science agitation. I think that’s fair, but I claim they have also oversold their contributions to pure mathematics.

@safeortrue @ldnjunk @DMarshall113 @clairlemon Uri, you just aren't getting it. You're at a low layer of resolution, not engaging the actual objections.

For example "White Privilege" is now a weaponized reserved term, making it impossible to discuss any unearned privilege of whites! An "own goal". It just TOTALLY backfires.
@safeortrue @ldnjunk @DMarshall113 @clairlemon Same thing with masculinity. Some masculinity, like some femininity, is toxic. But then you get:

masculinity --> toxic masculinity
toxic masculinity --> "Toxic Masculinity"
"Toxic Masculinity" --> ToxicMasculinity(TM)

and now nobody sane wants to talk about the issues at all.
@safeortrue @ldnjunk @DMarshall113 @clairlemon Yes, some of us are raising sons, and we see what this is doing to them. Rather than making them aware of the issues, many of them are getting a message that there is something wrong with all of them for just being normal boys during development. This is kind of sick & unethical.

Q does not offer the thought they may be good guys. Notice too, Q puts RR in brackets. An indication Q is telling us something?
