[THREAD] AG Barr, you can dissemble and split hairs and argue over what the meaning of the word is is, and you can keep yourself from being found criminally liable for perjury. But not being a felon is not enough for the AG of the United States [1/14]
The perjury debate is irrelevant. You have irreparably damaged your credibility and your ability to retain the public’s confidence in an independent, politically neutral Department of Justice. You are damaging the institution, and one of the core pillars of U.S. democracy [2/14]
Reality is that you are NOT independent or politically neutral. You have made it evident that you are acting as Trump’s personal defender. Whether or not you technically are is irrelevant [3/14]
As you know, appearance of conflict of interest can be as significant as actual conflict of interest. And you have clearly shown that your priorities do not align with the independent pursuit of truth and justice [4/14]
You misrepresented the Special Counsel report in your letter to Congress, making it look better for Trump than it was. You ignored a letter of objection from the Special Counsel, despite the fact that writing any letter was a remarkable action for Mueller [5/14]
You knowingly misled Congress when you claimed you did not know about objections to your letter. It DOES NOT MATTER if you can find a legal loophole that keeps what you said from technically being perjury. The AG is held to a higher standard than not committing a crime [6/14]
In your responses to Congress, you repeatedly revealed that you see yourself as TRUMP’S personal attorney, instead of the top law enforcement official of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. For example, when you said, “WE haven’t waived executive privilege” [7/14]
The AG is the top law enforcement official of the United States, responsible for earning America’s trust in our legal system. You have betrayed that trust repeatedly, and it is damaged beyond repair [8/14]
I don’t care about your personal reputation, or whether you trash that. But I care deeply about the reputation of the position you hold, and of the institution you represent. I do not trust you, and I do not believe you are capable of carrying out your duties [9/14]
I’m speaking out under an anonymous account that most people dismiss and ignore, and which news outlets will not report on. If I spoke out under my real name it would have a bigger impact. You would also fire me for not showing the loyalty which Trump holds so dear [10/14]
You should know better than anyone, none of us swear an oath of loyalty to the President, or to the AG. We swear an oath of loyalty to the United States Constitution. That is where my loyalty lies, and where it SHOULD be [11/14]
I stay at DOJ, and I stay anonymous, because I believe the work I am doing is making a significant difference for DOJ, and I feel there is a lot more I can do to help DOJ and the federal government to improve before I go [12/14]
But if you want to know who I am, just have your officials reach out and ask, and I‘ll tell you. I‘m not afraid of losing my job. I want to stay and help the gov’t, but I will not stay silent while you destroy the integrity & reputation of an organization that I care deeply about
AG Barr, you have lost my trust, and you have violated the faith of DOJ employees and of the American people. We as government employees deserve better, and the country deserves better. You can not effectively lead the DOJ, and you must resign [14/14]
