I’m just gonna throw this out right now: The primary antagonist/evil mastermind of Spider-Man: Far From Home will be Chameleon, not Mysterio.
Why? Because “Mysterio poses as a superhero, yet it turns out he was behind everything all along” is the worst twist ever. Because it’s *fucking Mysterio* and everyone in the audience knows it. That’s boring. We’re all waiting for the heroes to figure out what we knew going in?
Buuuut IMDB shows JB Smoove in a conspicuously unnamed role, and Numan Acar as “Dmitri”—which comics nerds will recognize as the given name of disguise-master and periodic Mysterio collaborator Chameleon.
So I’ll predict that the “Mysterio is actually the villain” reveal that anyone with Wikipedia already knows is coming is a fake-out twist we get relatively early, and the real twist is a much more elaborate con that Chameleon is helping to run.
One possibility: Having seen through Mysterio’s ruse an hour in, Spidey & Nick Fury team up to take him down. But “Fury” turns out to have been Chameleon the whole time (which is the REAL reason he couldn’t get Thor or Captain Marvel to help), manipulating Spidey to [something].
It’s either something along those lines, or the studio that enforced omertà on pain of death & digitally altered trailer scenes to preserve Endgame surprises has suddenly decided they don’t care about literally everyone foreseeing the twist in a movie about an illusionist baddie.
So: Chameleon. Remember where you saw it first when I’m proven right. And conveniently forget this thread if I turn out to be completely off base.
Oh: And Numan Acar’s “Dmitri” is the fake-out Chameleon we see/meet early on to establish that such a character exists; JB Smoove is the real Chameleon.
