The article has a kernel of a true if banal point in it (e2e crypto won’t protect you against an endpoint compromise). But this headline is fucking malpractice.
It’s not just wrong—and wildly irresponsible security advice for Bloomberg to print, even tagged as “opinion”—it’s totally backwards. Compromising endpoints is harder & less reliable than intercepting traffic, especially for state actors. They do it because e2e *is so effective*.
Your credit card might get stolen out of your wallet. So hey, you might as well post a photo of it on Twitter, right?
