a good father if you have children
a supportive partner, a loyal friend
a responsible man who makes amends when he hurts people and who doesn't run away from burdens
whenever i see people talk about "it's so hard to be a traditional M man" i'm always like - look, nobody wants that!

being a silent, stoic provider who finds it easier to access anger than softness - is this traditional masculinity? KEEP IT

A thread about the most interesting findings (to me!) about how #ttrpg spaces and masculinity interact (for those interested in #AcademicTwitter and #PublicSociology, I wanted to do a quick summary!):

Overall - TTRPG spaces tend to serve as homosocial spaces
Homosocial spaces are groups/communities where relationships between people of the same gender are centered. Mostly, these are men's spaces. These spaces are important in creating gender. They serve as the sites where people learn the "right" way to be a man.
This is normally invisible. Most of the time, men don't realize that spaces are centered around them. This is because men are seen as the default gender. This is most true for men who are also cis, straight, white, able-bodied, etc.

Part II: Along the lines of "Men DO, Women ARE" - The spiritual differences between male / female.

When Gd created the world, He did so by removing His infinite light from an aspect of His universality. This void (empty space) became the platform for physicality within infinity.
It wasn't a total void, however, as some light (G-dliness) is necessary to create. Hence, there became two sources:

1) A residual light from His initial presence which wasn't completely removed
2) A new light - a line beamed into the void, which became the source of creation.
Creation ensued primarily through the second, new light -- Gd's creative force. First, it created the higher spiritual worlds such as heaven, angels and spirits. Then it moved on to create lower physical worlds, including ours, with all human & animal creations -- the final step.

Just look back at your life. When you were happy about something, did you ever wonder about the meaning of life? Did you look inwards to see who you are, what life is all about? Did you feel the need to deeply know about the ultimate Truth? No!
When things go smoothly you just blindly follow the same routine with barely any awareness or consciousness. There is nothing to jolt you into awareness from your routine so you continue without any awareness. But when #pain happens, it makes you look at life objectively.
It forces you to look deeper into life, to learn why you react the way you react and seek to uncover the real #mystery of life. #Pain is the key that can open the door to the world of #reality; the choice is yours to open the door or not.
