Have seen the quality of food served at TN Govt schools. Egg is served, but the rice is so horrible that kids just throw away the rice and keep the eggs. If eggs, garlic and onion are forced on the Akshaya Patra Scheme, ISKCON will throw in the towel and exit noon meals /1

Will not harm ISKCON. They can take the same scheme to Venezuela or Ecuador or Ghana.
All of the badgering over eggs, garlic and onions is only towards this end. Outsourced mid-day meals only means
a) Large contracts on egg supply - rice, atta and pulses are sourced from /2

Govt ration shops and vegetables purchased locally. So, state-wide you can have large contracts at Rs 4-5 per egg. Do the math as to how much rent-seeking this will translate into.
b) XTian orgs will move into this space - fulfil all Govt norms on garlic, onions and eggs and /3

take the space occupied by Akshaya Patra.

This entire controversy has nothing to do with nutrition. The Church is a predatory multi-national and will do everything to ensure that no competition exists in any domain. Since ISKCON could not enter the market niche /4

that the Church had occupied, it innovated and created a market segment

The Church is now forcing ISKCON off the market space that it created. /END
