Here is the long and short of it
a) By canon law, any income that is earned by priests and nuns is counted as income to the Church and is hence, non-taxable under IT

c) In many private rural aided schools, the only way the school can continue to run is by taking a portion of the teacher's salary as kickback.
d) In States like TN, teacher salaries have been fixed as per Pay Commission /2

e) As a result, in a remote village schools, the HeadMaster will make 75,000 - 90,000 rupees per month. Teachers with 10-12 yrs ex will make 40-50000 rupees per month
f) Hindu teachers will have to pay a kickback to the school management as well as pay tax

g) OTOH, if your teacher is a nun or priest in the Xtian school, their salary is tax free. They get accomodation, food and clothing for free as they are priests. So, they can give more kickback to the school.
h) A Hindu teacher making 35000 pm has to make some small investments/4

for tax saving and cannot afford more than 3.5k pm kickback
i) A Xtian clergyman/woman who is a teacher will keep 5000 rupees for their personal expenses and hand over 30,000 pm to the school as kickback.

is completely taken over by the Church. Clergy are not keeping the money for themselves, just handing it over to Church. Pay all from Govt funds and keep it tax free too. Or don't make it tax free for anybody
