2/Pick up a throwaway cell phone. I bought this tracfone for $13. 60 mins talk+ data $19. 90 day plan. In cash from a discount store. Burner for less than $40. Yeah I can do that. Smart phone version would have been $20 more. In countries that require passport do what you can.
3/ cheap phone set up time! Call the tracfone toll free number using a public phone. Mute the line if possible,dont respond to voice prompts &it will let you press 1 for yes.2 no. Booth best. Hotel ok. Kiosk worst. Keep your cell phone on,home alone.Keep phones separated when on.
4/ Chromebook registration time! It needs 1) wifi:use park/mall/library.2) Gmail account. Create one on public terminal (best) or here (ok).You will receive SMS to verify. Virtual numbers might get an txt but its unlikely they will work. Good thing we have our little ghost phone.
5/ IMPORTANT: set up 2 factor auth. This phone number will be removed from the account before it expires in 90 days.Also if you make any sudden movements like login from another country(we're traveling!) your account may be flagged for suspicious activity.Set it up now.Heres how.
6/ connect to public WiFi. Login to gmail or your Google account. If prompted for a login text or voice call use the ghost phone number. Once in click the avatar in the upper right corner then click 'Google Account'. Then click 'Security'
7/ scroll down to 2FA(two factor authorization) &turn it ON. You will need to get an SMS or call to the ghost phone. Now click on 'Authentication App' . We are switching 2FA methods asap. Our phone service won't be available to us abroad &thus an unreliable way to login with 2FA.
