CA is considering #SB144, which would end burdensome criminal fees that provide little financial support to counties and make it harder for those who have completed their sentence to succeed. The question right now is if the committee chair, @Portantino, will stand in its way.

It's incredible how damaging these fees can be to those who are returning to their communities, as well as their families. Check out this report: law.berkeley.edu/wp-content/upl…
It's good to see Californians working to change this, and @Portantino should not stand in the way of this needed legislation.
A secret committee vote on California's #SB144 is expected tomorrow. So, now is the time to let @Portantino know that he should support #FamiliesOverFees and move #SB144 forward.
