The level of discourse on abortion around is low. A bright undergraduate could do better.

I can prove this, because I have a paper written by a bright, undergraduate philosophy major.

I’ve been using it for years, with her permission, as an example of a good philosophy paper.
During this class, I was assigning papers to be in the format used by St. Thomas Aquinas in the 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙖 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙖𝙚.

It’s an excellent format, since it is built in to consider cases for the opposite and address them.

This either/or is a false dichotomy.

Everyone knows rights are not like this. You have a right to free speech, but not to use speech to make threats. You have a right to free exercise of religion, but not to engage in human sacrifice. You have a right liberty, but can be jailed.
The most obvious cases where one’s rights STOP are where they would infringe on the rights of ANOTHER.

A woman absolutely has the right to decide when she will become a mother—up until the point where this would involve killing someone.
When people say things like this I hear

“You are denying my right to lynch n***ers, so you are saying I’m nothing but a slave. I find that morally repugnant.”

I think not.

My 20 tweet thread that got miscarried was about abortion and the Principle of Double Effect.
One of the most annoying pro-abort newspeak terms is “terminating a pregnancy” used as a euphemism for abortion.
A moment’s thought will show that “terminating a pregnancy” is not the same as an abortion, since (1) giving birth terminates the pregnancy—it is, in fact, the NATURAL TERMINATION of the pregnancy, which is why we speak of it as a woman’s COMING TO TERM.

It's already #4thofJuly2018 here in #NewZealand and the #antifa uprising has started. A bunch of them came to my house to take my guns. When I didn't have any they got mad. They took away my wife and made me gay marry an immigrant gang instead. Don't ignore the warnings.
In the street #antifa mobs are pouring biodiesel on piles of flags and using them to like giant scented-oil burners but with drums full of estrogen. I never knew people had so many flags. I guess they were keeping them in hiding. #4thofJuly2018

I'm writing to white people, because I am one, I get you. Most of us like to think we're not racist. That we're beyond that and stand up for people of colour, denouncing racism when it happens. If that's true, how did we get to this explosion of racism today?
Because it has. Racist hate has exploded everywhere and it's not out of the blue. And it's our fault. All of us white people. Yes, even you. It was a long time coming, a long fuse burning and we just stood back and watched it burn.
