The Liberal government has managed to increase foreign investment in Canada by 60%. The majority of it is NOT in fossil fuels, as conservative politicians have duly noted in their frequent public attacks on PM and LPC.

What does this mean?

LPC is reducing Canada’s dependence on the US economy and fossil fuel production.

Capitalism isn’t the enemy. Capitalism is a tool used by people to provide jobs, facilitate trade and build national economies.

Any tool can be used as a weapon.

It’s the people using the tool who create the problems, not the tool itself.

Strictly regulated capitalism reduced global human misery and raised the standard of living for billions of people during post Great Depression/WW2 era.

Greed and avarice are human conditions, not a result of the tool of capitalism.

All societies contain people who range from extreme greed to extreme altruism. Most of us fall somewhere in the middle.

Civilization has been dominated by those most motivated by greed for eons.

Unregulated capitalism creates disparity, poverty, suffering, enslavement and death. And very wealthy owners of capital.

Unregulated capitalism allows for the accumulation of wealth (capital) to be restricted to a small subset of the population, the 1%.

Regulating capitalism is a modern concept. It emerged from the extreme global devastation & suffering of the first half of the 20th century. Two world wars bookending a global Depression.

The world has only experienced regulated capitalism in the years since WW2. Never before.

It was a social experiment to regulate greed & avarice due to the crippling effects of the first half of the century. It’s success was unparalleled. When capital is redistributed fairly amongst the population, everyone prospers. Unless you study history, you may not know this.

Strictly regulated capitalism doesn’t permit hoarding of capital (financial & natural resources). Regulations promote the distribution of capital throughout the population for maximum benefit to all. Regulations restrict the power of those motivated by greed and avarice.

Restricted and regulated, capitalism changed the living conditions of most people living in western democracies from subsistence to thriving. It is directly responsible for the existence of the middle class. Prior to regulated capitalism, there were two strata; rich & poor.

This hasn’t escaped the attention of those most motivated by greed & avarice. They don’t like the changes that have been made. At the height of this social experiment’s success, a concentrated effort began; to remove regulations & restore power back into the hands of the 1%.

Since 1980, this has been the prime endeavour of conservatives worldwide; restore the patriarchal system used for millennia to maintain control of capital: i.e. unregulated capitalism. Historical record proves this.

Yes the LPC supports capitalism.

Austrian Economics
Libertarianism

Only one political party supports unregulated capitalism. The Conservatives, who are no longer conservative, they are libertarian.

LPC adheres to the original concept of liberty.

Cons are neoliberals.

Canada is beholden to US whims and demands by design. Conservatives have limited our trade and investment of capital to grow the economy (jobs) to mostly US based far right Libertarians.

The article attached above demonstrates the abundant effort made by LPC and liberals to break the reliance on US economy & investment. A necessary precursor to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. So the myth that LPC hasn’t addressed climate action is exactly that! MYTH

It’s a lie told to demoralize progressives and discourage support for Liberal policy.

Every human whose left a relationship should recognize this strategy. You don’t leave until you have some place else safe to go.

More work is required. It will continue. Liberals and Trudeau are delivering on the mandate they were given. Transitioning our economy to be less reliant on fossil fuels is an essential first step to climate change. Canada is ahead. Other nations are not completing this step.

When other nations move to reduce dependence, it will impact their economy much more than Canada’s, if Canada keeps diversification efforts progressing at the current pace.

Transitioning civilization away from fossil fuel dependency is an enormous task. Immediate cessation of O&G production isn’t not an option. Something must replace the energy source and the means to pay for it. Diversification of our economy will pay for future transition efforts.

Millions of actions remain before the taps can be turned off. Growing the economy was a mandated change in support of climate action.

Here is the mandate Liberals were given by winning the election.

The framework law, tying climate change to resource production is currently in the Senate. Bill C-69. Who is blocking the approval of that framework? The same people telling you Trudeau hasn’t done enough.

And note at the bottom. Until economic diversification and a framework law are in place, subsidies for fossil fuels will continue. There were no lies told. The plan never stated the subsidies would cease immediately.

Those telling you it did are lying. Fear mongering.

Just like there is no immediate cure for narcotic addiction, there is no quick solution to fossil fuel addiction.

We can immediately halt dependence & experience painful violent withdrawal or slowly wean ourselves off and set up the tools of success to avoid relapse.

And don’t bother telling me Ian McKay was forced to resign, indicating corruption. He did resign removing any conflict. If he were corrupt, he’d still be there. Humans make errors and ethics investigations help correct them.
