My thread on changing Leave voters into Remainers, by a leave voter who is very much now a Remainer:
Leave voters are mostly not “Brexiteers”; they are normal people after a happy life, and don’t think much about international politics as long as their community is cared for. 1/
We need to understand what the average Leave voter would prefer to Brexit, and I have put together a 4-part “Remain Pledge” that I would like to see Remain parties considering in preparation for any kind of public vote. 2/
1.Supporting, fixing, bolstering our NHS. And not just with the Tory line of “greatest ever funding levels”, which is always true, but actual year on year increases to take it away from breaking point. 3/
2.A return to Community Policing, with more “Bobbies on the Beat”, and an increase of community and public forums for people to address their concerns, and to see the operations the police have ran in their areas. 4/
3.The education system needs an urgent fix. Schools should not be crowdfunding for basic supplies, and children should not be going hungry, but schools also need extra support with the workload placed on them. 5/
I have chosen these 3 as these are incredibly important to local people, 3 points keep it simple, and these are all things that we will not be able to afford if we Leave. If we Leave, these services will not be fixed for a generation, maybe two. 6/
My 4th pledge is a £1million per constituency dividend to help fund startups of new community groups and projects. There are a whole range of things these could be, and I would suggest Remain groups should be looking at what their local communities would benefit from. 7/
Ideas could include things like walking groups, mens SHEDs, knit&natter groups, using local community spaces like village halls, parks, libraries, plus probably a million better ideas than mine. Low cost and plentiful would bring communities together in lots of different ways. 8/
If parties can say to people: if we Remain, you will get this, this and this in your community, then we can win over hearts and minds. We can’t turn a Leave voter into a Remain voter by selling them Remain. But we can sell them on their own community. 9/
Yes, all of this requires funding, but it will regardless to put right, any kind of Brexit requires *a lot* more, and at least the funding is going to good causes if we Remain. And yes, it is a bribe, but one that it is right to give and to get. 10/
Wiser heads than mine can fill in the details, but how can the Brexit Party counter this? By writing a manifesto and costing out *their* plans. Which they have avoided because their details will cost them voters. 11/
tl:dr
Make our country better, fund a community Remain dividend, get rid of Brexit. Good communities = happy people! Let me know if you have ideas, and let your local Remain parties know!

*notes* I picked these points out as they are things Leave either can’t or won’t be able to promise, and people really want. Also, check out my pinned thread for why you aren’t going to win many arguments against Brexiteers on Twitter. Talk to real people instead!
