100% #CancelLindaFairstein, but let's not villainize her to the point where we think what she did was uniquely horrible. The stories of Korey, Antron, Kevin, Raymond, & Yusef are theirs alone, but what happened to them happens to Black & Brown children in this country every day.
Everyone involved in prosecuting the Central Park 5 case should be held to account.

Let's also make sure to do everything we can to identify & expose police & prosecutors who are currently abusing their positions in the same way she & everyone else involved in that case did.
PS. So to everyone in the comments who thinks I am saying she is not a despicable human being, far from it. It's just there are so many prosecutors like her, you would not believe it. Working in this system and seeing what happens to children every day is crushing.

Darrell Jones was found not guilty of murder today. Mr. Jones was being retried after serving 32 years in prison. A judge threw out his conviction in 2017, finding the police had doctored a key piece of evidence & a detective lied at his first trial. wbur.fm/2KdY1HN
Mr. Jones was just 18 when he went to prison and has maintained his innocence from the beginning. He rejected a plea deal offered during his first trial that would have meant he served just 6 years in prison. The case against him was based solely on eyewitness testimony.
The prosecution, knowing the judge's ruling about the doctored police evidence, the detective's perjury (and an additional ruling about racial bias of his first jury) as well as the fact he served 32 years in prison, still went ahead and retried him.

Police violence is more visible and more obviously brutal, but it is prosecutors who are ultimately more powerful. It is prosecutors who send to children to prison for decades. Cops don't make those decisions.
When prosecutors try cases, they don't always call the complaining witness, but they nearly always call a cop. Prosecutors rely on cops. When police are able to lie in court, it is because a prosecutor put them on the stand.

A Utah cop pulled a gun on a ten-year-old Black child playing on his grandmother's front lawn, after receiving a report that a suspect was "Black, Hispanic or Polynesian." In a state that's 1% Black, the police chief defended his officer's "good judgment." apnews.com/edf5a1ff3c144c…
After pointing the gun at the child, the cop told him to put his hands in the air and get on the ground and not to ask questions. After being confronted by the child's mother, he got in his car and left.
This is what people need to understand when they defend a random arrest they read about by saying, oh well, the police said, they matched the description of a suspect. Here the description was anyone "Black, Hispanic or Polynesian" so that included a 10-year-old Black child.

This reminds me of when I was trapped halfway up a cliff by the incoming tide. There were some tourists watching me, so I naturally acted like I meant to be up there, stopping to admire the view, every time they looked at me, then, when they looked away, I willed them to fuck off

Until now, the only SEO space where AMP was kind of "mandatory" was on news: if you want to appear on the "Top stories" box, you kind of need to have your articles to use AMP. You can appear there withouth AMP, but you don't get the same visual benefits #AMP #SEO .
Now Google is bringing "Stories" (like Instagram Stories, Snapchat Stories, etc.) to search results. They just announced it at #ampconf (see ) #AMP #SEO
This means that for certain kind of queries (by now: travel, and later also gaming, movies, tv and fashion) the first result will get another "special box" called "Visual Stories" where you can only appear using not only AMP, but AMP stories #AMP #SEO

To avoid doing the work I'm not inclined to do, I'm going to indulge a bunch of proclivities at once, which is what Twitter is for. Behold: My #HumanaeVitae story.
My mom and dad had four kids, of which I'm the eldest. My wife is the eldest of four, as well. Growing up in the 80s and 90s, this was a large, but not super-large, family. Our Catholic families undoubtedly used contraception, but I haven't asked because ew.
My mom and dad didn't really talk about numbers of kids much. My mom once said my dad was the second of [more even than I have] because "[My grandmother] came from a generation that didn't know how to say no." My dad made clear he thought nothing wrong with the practice.

We’re getting to the part of the conversation where we are going to start talking about whether or not to forgive. & what that means.
I personally don’t subscribe to the idea that we must forgive.

But I also know that forgiving is an act for your soul as much as for others.
Forgiveness of certain sexual misconduct cannot be a license to continue to abuse.

It would have to mean more like we deal less harshly with those who apologize instead of dodge, who make amends instead of excuses.
