Very much not a fan of the term 'LeftTube', I find the term very gatekeepy, and don't see myself as belonging to that group. I am a media analysis person who occasionally shares his personal conclusions about the world. My work feels too broad to fit the term. But whatever:

There have been youtubers you could call 'left wing' for a decade, including POC like T1J or Kat Blaque.
But 3 white guys and a white transwoman get a few subscribers and suddenly it's a special new group with its own name. Oh I see what's happening here. No thanks!!

When I started making videos, I couldn't help but notice that there were things there's plenty of better experts and advocates for, trans issues, racial issues, etc, but that people would listen to me about it more about than someone from that group. It's not fair. It's not.

I especially don't like how even now, even saying you should support people like @kat_blaque or @the1janitor, I'm not escaping that we're in a place where I need to say that for people to notice or realise it. I'm happy to do it, they're great. But I hate that it has to be done.

I would say more but, wouldn't you know, Kat said more and better in her video, and also in this post she made on her community page:

This isn't a popularity contest, I love Kat and I know Kat likes my work and I would want her to succeed even if she hated me. Frankly, if anyone's equipped to criticise me it's her. None of what Kat has said is a surprise to the other people who do this.

I don't have a proper conclusion here, it's an annoying thing we'd all like to see changed and Kat is more of a leftuber than I ever have been. I'll end by linking Nat's comment on Kat's video because I thought it was good and want people to see it. please ignore the irony.
