AZ taxpayer alert: (1 of 7) Since taking office, Congressman Biggs has paradoxically portrayed himself a deficit hawk & a champion of the '17 tax cuts law. He tweets metaphors like this about the debt and makes dire warnings about peril to our children and grandchildren. #12News
(2 of 7) From a journalist’s perspective, this all begs one burning question: How does Mr. Biggs in good conscience hold both positions simultaneously?
(3 of 7) The ’17 tax cuts are projected to contribute to an eye-popping $1 trillion deficit this year alone (an annual benchmark not reached since ’09-’12 under Obama during a global financial crisis.)
(4 of 7) This past February alone, Americans shouldered the largest one-month deficit -- $234 billion -- ever. And these are good economic times!
(5 of 7) The cuts, which generously favor corporations over individual taxpayers for myriad reasons, are plunging our country even faster into a deep red abyss. Most reputable economists reject the motto that the cuts will “pay for themselves.”
(6 of 7) I have requested to interview Mr. Biggs about this seemingly contradictory stance. My deadline for a response came and went. A spokesperson for Mr. Biggs ignored my request. I am not the first journalist to experience this with Mr. Biggs’ office.
(7 of 7) Perhaps the media personalities with whom Mr. Biggs has chosen to give interviews to in the past, will discuss this. Maybe they have & I've missed it. Meanwhile I’ll continue making my requests on behalf of AZ taxpayers. @SylesteFox10 @MacandGaydos @JohnHookfox10
