Why am I, a devout Catholic woman - who goes to church every Sunday - Pro-Choice?

I love life.
I believe life starts at conception.
I would never have an abortion - even if I sacrificed my own life for the baby.
Rape.
Incest.
Death.

I would choose to have the child.

So - why don’t I support the “Pro-Life” political stance????!!

Because - it is not pro-life.

When it comes to universal health care - the GOP largely does not support the Affordable Care Act - which would provide health care for everyone and would save hundreds of thousands of lives.

When it comes to the death penalty- the GOP is largely in favor of the death penalty - which disproportionately effects African-American males. The death penalty is what put my Lord, Jesus to death. Innocent people have been murdered by the death penalty. I cannot support it.

Guns.
If I were a candidate - my slogan would be “Imma Coming for Y’all’s Guns.”

How can you possibly be Pro-Life and Pro-Gun??

Kindergarteners murdered at #SandyHook. People gunned down in movie theaters, clubs and at church.

There is no reason whatsoever to own a gun that shoots dozens of bullets in one pull. If you want to kill a deer to eat - so be it. But trophy hunting - mass shootings - murders - killing of innocent lives - NO WAY. NO HOW. If I had the power - I would take away every assault gun

In my opinion, looking at these facts - I think it is NOT about life, or babies.
“Pro -life” males are about controlling and subjugating women. Controlling women’s bodies. What women wear. Where women go. They don’t care about life.

The Pro-Life agenda worries me.
I LOVE life
I CHOOSE life.
And this is a choice women should be able to make - about their bodies.
About their future.

I know my church feels differently.
And I understand it
If you believe life starts at conception - then abortion is murder.
But what about if we gave women proper pre-natal care for free?
What about if we supported infants & their moms financially?
What if we paid for deliveries?

Why is the GOP against the things that would reduce abortions to a tiny, tiny percentage?

Because it’s not about life.

Therefore, I cannot support something whose root is to keep women down.

I will help women in every way I can.
And I ask that you do too.

Support Planned Parenthood.
Support pre-natal care.
Support gynecologists who help women.
Support universal pre-K.
Men - pay your child support!
Help single moms when they need assistance.

Understand - that a woman’s body & the care it receives - are hers to make.
