.@i2iIntegrative has put together a substantive agenda for their Spring Conference & I’m thrilled to be joining my colleague Debra Farrington of NC Medicaid to share an update about Medicaid Transformation & Tailored Plans. Thank you for having us!
As we develop & implement Medicaid Transformation @NCDHHS has worked hard to be transparent, inclusive, & thoughtful we’ve been very deliberate improve access to quality, whole-person centered care & treatment.
Ensuring individuals are receiving the appropriate level of care, either through the Standard Plans or Tailored plans is a key priority for @NCDHHS, which is why we’ve developed an inclusive approach to Tailored Plan eligibility for those with complex behavioral health needs.
The criteria that has been developed for Tailored Plan eligibility has come together thanks to robust feedback from stakeholders & is clinically sound, consistent with the Medicaid Transformation statute, & beneficiary-centered.
We realize change can be hard & confusing. As we transition to integrated care through Medicaid Transformation leveraging the managed care model, here’s a summary breakdown of LME/MCOs vs. Tailored Plans.
.@NCDHHS designed Tailored Plans with robust treatment & care management services intended for those with significant support needs, but Standard Plans will serve many others very well. A summary of the differences:
Of course, as we continue to work towards implementation of Medicaid Transformation & connecting individuals to quality, integrated care, there are still too many without access to insurance & care.
Medicaid expansion would provide an additional 500,000 North Carolinians with access to health insurance & focus resources where they can help prevent individuals from falling into moments of crisis.
Keeping individuals well & helping enable them to live fulfilling & productive lives is – and should be – the goal. This goal would be dramatically advanced by providing access to quality integrated care, which is most efficiently accomplished through expanding Medicaid.
