Just run the same .exe through UPX (the by far most popular and least exotic executable compressor in existence), and you're up to 10/70. In other words, 14% of all antivirus engines consider a UPX-packed "Hello World" program dangerous!
Sure, some of these hits are results of some kind of heuristic and named as such. But some are oddly specific: "Ransom.Crusis!8.5724/N3#78%", "BScope.Trojan.Bitrep", "Trojan:Win32/Fuery.B!cl". And even a generic term like "Win/malicious_confidence_100% (D)" doesn't sound good.
Usually, I just wouldn't care. But people start complaining that they can't even download my "normal" (i.e. non-demoscene) applications from my website because their browser thinks it must protect its users from my utterly dangerous ... image viewer.
