I'm going to be going out to New Hampshire in a few weeks and then Iowa later in the summer, camping with my kids, and we're going to try to see some of the candidates on the stump.
First question: Any advice on how to get info on all the candidates' events without trawling all of their websites and so on? I'm sure some of y'all have done this. Tips?
Second question: What questions should I ask the various candidates if I get the chance? Looking for ideas for questions tailored to individual candidates, and questions that I might actually ask them.

More than a month ago, Nancy Pelosi was quoted in the New York Times saying that she thought Trump might not step down if he lost the election. It was a one-day story, and she hasn't made any public statement on the topic since.
The Democrats should be making public preparations for the possibility of a stolen election next year, and mobilizing the public against that possibility. So far they're doing neither.
Who the Democrats nominate as president will matter a lot as to how effective an attempt to steal the 2020 election would be. On its own, it may well not matter enough to stop a serious attempt.

I find it so weird that Bernie's (very good!) speech yesterday was billed/titled as "How Democratic Socialism Is The Only Way To Defeat Oligarchy and Authoritarianism." I'd love to know the thinking behind that.
"We want to convince people who are ignorant of or hostile to left lingo that democratic socialism is good, and we're gonna do it by telling them it's the path to defeating oligarchy and authoritarianism!"
Bernie's people have been outraged about the article in which some of his opponents were described as laughing about the speech, but they weren't laughing at the contents—the speech hadn't been given yet. They were laughing at the NAME.

Trump is referring to a call in which Russian pranksters claimed to have naked photos of Trump. Schiff told the callers they should give the photos to the FBI, and that he would be contacting the FBI about the call.
"I’ll be in touch with the FBI about this. And we’ll make arrangements with your staff. I think it probably would be best to provide these materials both to our committee and to the FBI." —Adam Schiff, on the recorded call Trump is referring to. rollcall.com/news/politics/…
Again, this isn't in dispute. Schiff is on tape doing exactly what Trump said he didn't do. He was offered naked photos of Trump, and his immediate response was to inform the FBI and pass the materials along to them.

Alright, I've seen too many dumb blue check marks throwing the Spurs under the bus for KD's injury even though we're not in the playoffs. I've decided to roughly chronicle what I remember about last season and how Kawhi is not innocent in all this.

1. Spurs gave Kawhi the keys to his injury in August 2017. They had diagnosed him with Quadriceps Tendinopathy (a degenerative disease that can be treated but never healed). Kawhi and his camp sought out multiple opinions and settled on Philly's doctor (who misdiagnosed Fultz)...
The diagnosis was atrophy instead of Tendinopathy. That can be healed with the right treatment....

Critical point here is that the MSM is claiming that #Sanders "came within a handful of votes" of #HillaryClinton, when he lost in a landslide of 4M votes, 1k pledged delegates (not SDs) and a dozen states.

This false narrative harms #Sanders--it's meant to highlight how badly he's doing in 2020 and prop up #Biden. But Sanders is actually doing better than in 2016. There are just more players. And Biden is being replaced by a younger centrist, #Buttigieg.

Shall we talk about BEAUTIFUL LANGUAGE in today's #TenThings thread? About what to look for as you edit and how to weed out the wheat from the chaff? For me, this is usually a draft 4-ish thing, but I'm always on the look out for clunky sentences. TO KILL THEM.
1. The most important rule of beautiful language is that you don't get hung up on it while writing your first draft. Don't spend an hour with the thesaurus. Don't worry over the rhythm on your first page. Vomit up the first draft; make it beautiful later, over several drafts.
1.5 Fun fact: I wrote my 1st book in 2009, but I *tried* to write a book in 2003. Never got past the 1st paragraph because I couldn't decide on the heroine's eye color. I thought IT WAS IMPORTANT. It wasn't. Forward momentum is more important than eye color, adjectives, ANYTHING.
