Knox County Sherrif Tom Spangler believes that having one of his own officers promote terrorism and genocide against the LGBTQ community is protected under free speech. #ACAB 
Knoxville has a deeply misconstrued understanding of “free speech” that historically protects white supremacy and promotes bigotry.
In 2017, TN passed the Campus Free Speech Protection Act which states that colleges cannot shield individuals from free speech, including ideas and opinions that are offensive or radical.
Despite a stipulation that “free speech” shall not interfere with the freedom of others, this law has been a sham to platform white supremacists like Matthew Heimbach & his defunct Traditionalist Workers Party, and, most recently, “Make America White Again” politician Rick Tyler.
It is exhausting to have to reiterate how promoting the further marginalization of systemically oppressed groups is NOT free speech. But with cops we must realize the extent they are granted direct systemic power to bring their expressions of bigotry into practice at will.
It is NOT OKAY for an off-duty cop to promote genocidal violence & it is NOT OKAY for Sheriff Tom Spangler to dismiss it as a First Amendment right. By refusing to take action, Tom Spangler is effectively running a terrorist organization. #ACAB #NoCopsAtPride #FTP
