Reparations 5 years after slavery was abolished would have made sense. Reparations 10 or 20 or even 30 years later would have made sense. Reparations 150 years later is an idiotic and immoral idea.
Especially considering what other races and ethnicities have been through in the meantime. You’re really going to take reparation money from someone whose grandparents were killed in the holocaust?
What about someone whose great grandparents fled persecution in Ireland only to find more of it here? What about someone whose grandparents were sent to interment camps? If we’re giving out reparations for historical suffering, how the hell could these people OWE? Madness.
And are we giving reparations to people whose families came here 50 years after slavery ended? How would that make any sense? The whole idea is just stupid in the extreme.
