Whose job was it to brush the moss off of ol'George's ideas before he hit the stage? When was the last time George Will had a new idea? Was it this decade? Century?
Wondering at my own behavior. It's like I'm trying to induce an ideas festival to block me. How can we just let this stuff pass, though. The world is on fire and Judy Woodruff is talking to George Will like it's 1987.
Peggy Noonan's on next, right? Maybe in conversation with Thomas Friedman and the moldering corpse of Henry Kissinger?...what's that? I'm hearing Kissinger is still alive. Fair mistake, though.

What's happening at the University of Alaska is terrible, but I don't believe it's a bellwether. I think it's a swan song for Clark Kerr's vision of the "multiversity" which has been heading towards extinction for quite some time. insidehighered.com/blogs/just-vis…
Kerr's conception of the multiversity was an institution dedicated to producing "new knowledge in all its forms." This meant institutions dedicated to both teaching and research. What's happening suddenly at Alaska happened in slow-mo elsewhere. alumni.berkeley.edu/california-mag…
Alaska is facing the elimination of tenured jobs, the end of whole programs, extreme contraction of the research mission. All have become commonplace at public universities already. The adjunctification of faculty arose as a direct result of eliminating tenable jobs over time.

Kristoff's evidence is limited to the Ronald Sullivan case at Harvard, a single quote from one person (George Yancey) claiming academia was hostile to faith, the revocation of a Cambridge fellowship for JBP (which he was utterly unqualified for), and of course, Oberlin.
Oberlin. Always Oberlin. Why not Liberty? They are equally as representative of the whole of higher education institutions. Why is such shitty thinking allowed on the most influential platform for public ideas in the country?

Because my brain is strange sometimes, I wrote a short story from the close 3rd person POV of a David Brooks-like character. It contains a theory as to the rationale behind the hiring of a Bret Stephens-like character. I think it may just be true, even though I made it up.
If punditry were a test of accuracy or ability to genuinely illuminate the present, Brooks and Stephens would've been fired for cause long ago. Instead, they have total job security because if they were let go, they'd claim they were victims of the PC mob. What a grift.
So Brooks & Stephens aren't going anywhere, but maybe, just maybe the editors at the Times will read some of these critiques and do their jobs at pushing their contributors to produce better work. I don't have a tone of hope, but the odds are better than them getting fired.

So I played Natural Machines in Halmstad, Sweden tonight. First time doing it on an upright Disklavier. I figured I’d have to play differently to deal with reduced dynamic range, but what I didn’t realize is that the DKV the presenter found (150km away) is the first 1/
ever made, an MX100A from 1988. Somehow there was a miscommunication, and I thought it would be an MP70, which is a much later model. So anyway, I get to the venue at 11:45am, and I look at the piano and it’s unlike anything I’ve seen before. All the midi settings I need 2/
to change in order to pilot the piano from my computer are hidden in strange menus requiring many button presses. One of the essential functions, turning the 0.5 sec delay off, is nowhere to be seen, and stranger still, every time I send the DKV a note from my computer, 3/

Reminder: Only two of the nine justices - Gorsuch and Thomas - signed onto a dissent calling to block extra-record discovery in the case.

Even Kavanaugh didn't go that far. The majority's order limited the matter to temporarily blocking Wilbur Ross's deposition.
Analysis: Census is supposed to go to print by June 2019.

It’s in the DOJ’s best interest to gum up the gears of justice to preempt a ruling blocking the government’s addition of a citizenship question before then - even with longshot motions resoundingly rejected last time.

The Evidence Obtained Outside Cameras will not show any evidence of ‘tempering’ but other than license plates of dozens of diplomatic cars (Many with tinted windows-large trunks) with related time stamp, drivers Info, model/year: Nothing.
#Turkish Intel-Investigative Bodies also have the list of all Diplomatic & Private Saudi & “other significant’ Planes in #Turkey for the period of ‘interest.’ Many of the Target airports have their own security cameras & related evidence.
