1/ India is the second most unequal country in the world after Russia.

The top 1% own 58% of the wealth today.

During British time, top 1% owned 20%.

2/ For all the GDP growth that’s happening, in 2018 the bottom 50% of population saw their wealth rise by 3%.

While the top 1% got richer by 39%.

I recently finished The Enigma of Reason, written by @hugoreasoning and @dansperber. It's about how reasoning evolved in humans.

Here are my notes from the #book.
1/ Their main thesis is that reasoning evolved so that in low-trust social interactions between humans, co-operation could take place.

Social interactions are low trust because each party has an incentive to take the advantage of the unsuspecting one.
2/ So reasoning evolved in order to enable strangers to cooperate.

A person could produce reasons to satisfy his claim while the other could get convinced by it.

With reasons, you don't have to take people on face value. You can being trusting reasons, not them.

It's insane that media and the startup community worships financial success of companies like Uber without knowing why they're worth so many billions.

First, know that Uber's strategy is to burn money and grow.
Uber's pre-IPO valuation of $49 Billion was driven by Softbank's massive financial kitty.

They have seemingly infinite cash because interest rates in Japan are zero or negative. Plus, sovereign arab funds with oil money are so large that they need to invest in everything.
How big is Softbank?

"The overall group has ¥15.7tn ($143bn) of interest-bearing debt and ¥27tn of total liabilities, far greater than its ¥11.6tn market cap."

Softbank has $150 billion of debt, and its liabilities is more than its market cap.

Property 1/ Widely adopted morals gradually disappear from one’s moral framework, and simply become a norm.

Nobody talks about slavery anymore, and yet it was a topic of intense debate in 18th and 19th century.
Property 2/ Many of today's norms will be seen as immoral by future generations. Witch-hunt was acceptable at one point of time.

Which of today's behaviors you think will be seen as immoral in future?

My bet is that eating animals will be seen in disbelief by our descendents.

Bank name
PAN - Primary Account Number
Cardholder name
Expiry Date
Card brand
CVV - Card Verification Value

A combination of these data are used to consummate financial transactions and therefore need to be protected.

GEEP (comprising @MarketMoni, #FarmerMoni, @Trader_Moni) has disbursed N27.4 billion in interest-free loans from N10,000 to N350,000 to more than 1.1 million market women/men, artisans, farmers, petty traders across 36 States & FCT. Under GEEP, 56% of the loans have gone to women
