A bit confusing here.

1. A Canadian style Brexit trade deal (aka a reasonably comprehensive free trade agreement*) would have to be negotiated *after* a withdrawal agreement is settled, unless the EU is persuaded to change the sequence.

* also Japan/S.Korea style

2. So when Hunt says no payment until the EU agrees, what does he mean? Agrees the withdrawal agreement but not the future relationship? Agrees the free trade deal? Agrees both? How would that work?

3. What happens on Oct 31? Sorting this out will surely take much longer.
4. Crawford Falconer is described as being "sidelined" by Theresa May.

But Falconer was hired by Liam Fox to be his top official on trade negotiations in the International Trade Department (DIT).

DIT's role was negotiations with other countries, but specifically not the EU.
4 (continued). Negotiating with the EU was the role of the Brexit Dept (at that time David Davis) and No10.

Since DIT was not involved but was the agency that hired Falconer, it cannot be true that May "sidelined" him.

Interesting to see what comes of this / ends
