Hi Guys, In this #Thread i am going to talk about how we can utilise the Rooftops of Petrol Pump to generate Solar Power. In this how we can collectively achieve a Target of Mega Power Generation Unit.
This is the Map of Annual Mean Daily Solar Generation capacity per day per Square Metre.
You can see the least itself is 4.4 KwH per M.sq and if we take Area wise Weighted average we can achieve more than 5 KwH per M.sq
From the Open Sources we can understand that the Minimum size of a Petrol Pump Rooftop is 600 Sq.ft which is equal 55 Sq. Meters.
So being conservative let's take as 50 Sq. Meters.
Therefore the Smallest Petrol Pump can generate 250 KwH of energy per day.
As we know that 1000 KwH is equal to 1 MwH.
Technically a Solar Petrol Pump can produce 91.25 MwH per Annum. (250 KwH * 365 / 1000).
Now, There is a unique feature in Solar Industry which is Panel Efficiency which ranges from 12% to 16%.
Again let's be conservative and take the Panel Efficiency to be 12%.
Which brings our Net Production efficiency to 10.95 MwH PA per Petrol Pump.(91.25 MwH * 12%)
Now let's extrapolate this number to Pan India basis. We have 63674 Petrol Pumps established in India. Now again I want to reemphasie that I have taken only Minimum size of a Petrol Pump and there are petrol pumps which are more than 3000Sq. Ft +
The Total Energy Production Capacity that can be achieved after the Panel Efficiency Pan India is Approx 697000 MwH PA Pan India.(10.95 MwH * 63674)
Now, just compare these numbers with India's Total Production Capacity which is 334000 MwH PA.
This Idea of Producing energy from Petrol Pump itself is double the India's Production capacity.
We know that Solar Panels are having a High One Time Investments costs. The Value per Panel itself comes around 1 lakh after subsidies but studies estimate we can break even in 8 to 9 years.
To be specific the Cost of One KwH producing plant is ₹112000 after subsidies.
So every Petrol Pump needs to be Invest ₹ 560000 to generate 5 KwH of energy.
So our desirable Petrol Pump which produces 250 KwH we need to Invest ₹2.8 Cr.
Extrapolating this number to Pan India basis it comes to Approx 180000 Crores.
This is a Huge Investment that is required. But we can Implement this Project in Phases like City wise, Petrol Pump Size wise etc. Etc.
Request everyone to take this Idea forward and help India to achieve it's aim of being a Carbon Neutral Country.
