Software engineers should be aware that the "principles" behind scrum / kanban (transparency, inspection, adaptation) are usually applied only to the development team, not management and owners. Can you inspect your company's capital table and executive compensation?
engineers are required to adapt to business requirements (usually, making more money), but management are rarely required to adapt to software requirements (quality, FOSS, interoperability, etc)
Agile scrumban is an effective way of organizing software development. That doesn't mean that it should be used to preempt questioning the unstated assumptions that underlie software development (sometimes a question must be addressed NOW, not "offline")
Of course this could make software development less efficient. But shouldn't organizations with questionable underlying factors be penalized?
