Here in NYC, we have a state legislature that refused to eliminate a single-test for the city's most prestigious public high schools, even though it keeps out nearly all black/ Latino students. Yet folks are arguing that governments don't resist integration anymore. Kool met Aid.
I could spend hours listing examples of school boards and state officials bowing to local pressure not to desegregate schools, not to rezone schools if that means sending lots of black kids into mostly white schools, not to eliminate screens and tests that keep black kids out.
The argument that schools just happen to be segregated and there is no intent or official policies behind it is the SAME argument white officials used in the 1960s and 1970s. Y'all are not being serious right now.
