By the way, notice something these stories all have in common? The victims didn't want to talk to male reporters. Diversity matters. (Also, I find myself thinking, not for the first time, what huge biases and blind spots male-dominated newsrooms have. Consider the coverage of
women in power or seeking power by so many men who later were discovered to be serial sex pests. You don't think that's a huge fucking bias, that they think so little of women that they think we're here for nothing but their own pleasures and fantasies?)
I spent a long time covering cross-border human trafficking, and the little girls and boys sometimes couldn't even be in the same room with men after how they had been treated by them. (Spare me the false equivalences, if you're thinking about doing so, I know the statistics.)
