1. Time to discuss @netflix, and its war on people with #epilepsy. This company will not stop, & it's time for our community of 3.4 million patients and tens of millions of friends and family members to take action: Please, cancel your Netflix account.

Here is what they did:...
@netflix 2...i have been notified that, in the latest season of @Stranger_Things, there is a notification that because of lighting effects, people with photosensitive epilepsy might have seizures. That's right - @netflix, for an effect, is putting people's lives at risk....
@netflix @Stranger_Things 3...what if someone misses the opening? As mentioned with the Cameron Boyce story, epilepsy can kill. Is it REALLY worth a visual effect to potentially kill people? Why not start injecting sugar during episodes, but just warn diabetics not to watch?...
@netflix @Stranger_Things 4...@netflix has again, and again, and again gone after people with #epilepsy over the past year. I don't know if some executive there was insulted by someone with epilepsy, but Netflix is without peer in the ridicule, insults, misinformation and attacks on people with epilepsy..
@netflix @Stranger_Things 5...the first time, @netflix ran a movie that ridiculed a main character with epilepsy, and during the story, when that person had a seizure, another character filmed it and sent it out on social media with the hashtag *seizaboydance* The "dance" became imitated by other....
@netflix @Stranger_Things 6...characters. Yes, they imitated an epileptic seizure, ridiculing the character, making fun of it. A thing that can FRIGGING KILL PEOPLE @netflix!...
@netflix @Stranger_Things 7...the Epilepsy Foundation put out this statement about @netflix and this horrible movie, but everyone ignored it: "Making fun of someone having a seizure is bullying at its worst. When such responses are portrayed as acceptable behavior – even in movies – it is demeaning..."
@netflix @Stranger_Things 8..."and hurtful to our epilepsy community and all of us. In fact, such treatment can put real people who have seizures at increased risk of injury and death. If someone is ridiculed for a medical problem, such as seizures, they are more likely to hide their illness...."
@netflix @Stranger_Things 8..."and less likely to seek medical care or the help of others...it is a serious affront to our community when so-called entertainment mocks or jokes about having epilepsy or seizures.”

What did @netflix do in response?...
@netflix @Stranger_Things 9...they ran a frigging COMEDY SPECIAL that gave out completely false and damaging information about epilepsy, telling people to jam things in a person's mouth during a seizure to stop them from swallowing their tongue. This TOTAL myth has been the target of battles....
@netflix @Stranger_Things 10...by the epilepsy community for years, because lots of us have experienced broken teeth and even broken jaws by people who wrongly believe someone can swallow their tongues, and put things in people's mouths to "stop" the mythological "threat"....
@netflix @Stranger_Things 11...once again, the Epilepsy Foundation put out a statement regarding what @netflix did: "“This is absolutely NOT the way to aid someone having a seizure. In fact, this wrong action could, at the very least, cause serious injury to the individual having the seizure and...
@netflix @Stranger_Things 12...." to the person attempting to provide help. And, at the worst, this wrong action could result in the death of the person having the seizure.”

So what did @netflix do, just a few months later? They ran a show KNOWING a little stupid special effect could CAUSE seizures....
@netflix @Stranger_Things 13...what next, @netflix? You going to come to our homes and kick us? Spit on us?

You have ridiculed us, told people to do things that could severely hurt or kill us, and then KNOWINGLY acted by doing something that could CAUSE a seizure. What will it take for you to STOP?...
@netflix @Stranger_Things 14...there is only one option. As I mentioned, the time has come for this community to utilize the power of its numbers. CANCEL your @netflix account until this company FINALLY puts out a statement that it gets it, and that the netflix war on people with epilepsy will stop.
