Let's clear something up here, because Diane Dimond is lying and twisting again.
1) It's very difficult to sue journalists and win, because journalist enjoy all kind of privileges and protections. Like the Shield Law which allows them to distance themselves from any responsibility of untruthful reporting if they can blame it on a "source" (named or unnamed).
That is, among other things, why Dimond escaped punishment for her untruthful reporting in that lawsuit that MJ filed against VG and her. VG wasn't careful enough with his life there so MJ could win against him,
but not against Dimond, because she could hide behind VG's back and the Shield Law saying that she only reported what her source told her so she is not responsible. She did not escape because she did not lie (she did!) but because malice could not be proven on her part.
It could be proven on VG's part, though. It wasn't that VG refused to reveal his source and that's why he lost. He was proven to be a malicious liar!
He had no "source" that he should have revealed. His claim was that he was shown a tape by Margaret Maldonado, the mother of MJ's nephew Jeremy Jackson on which MJ was seen molesting Jeremy. Margaret denied the story: 
Not only that, but there were other, independent ways of proving VG simply made up the tale. For example, he claimed that he had met Margaret Maldonado in a hotel room for that he had paid with his credit card, but the hotel had no record of him ever staying there.
A private investigator, Eric Mason, revealed in a declaration that a journalist, Ken Wells, told him the following about an encounter he had with Gutierrez and his lawyer while the case was already going on:
2) As for the book. This is another fallacy that if a celebrity doesn't sue for something that is written about him it means that claim is true. Like I said, often it is very difficult to sue and win against journalists because they are protected by privileges.
During the lawsuit, VG tried to depose Jordan Chandler but he refused and in fact, distanced himself from the book.
Jordan's uncle, Ray Chandler once called Gutierrez a "sleazbag" in a 2004 interview. So Dimond is vouching for a book that even the Chandlers did not endorse and in fact, distanced themselves from it.
In the book, VG makes claims that Jordan never did - for example anal sex claims. Even if you believe the Chandler allegations it is clear that this book is full of lies and made up fantasy.
VG is a habitual liar and a fantasist, who in his own country, Chile went to jail for slander. And there too he was involved in making false child sexual abuse allegations against certain politicians.
I find it interesting that in her endorsement of VG's book, Dimond fails to address its highly disturbing aspects, namely the blatant pedophilia propaganda in it. These are from that book:
In the book VG also goes into a lengthy apology for NAMBLA and pedophilia using the made up “romance” between Jackson, Jordan Chandler and other boys as justification.
He quotes a NAMBLA magazine stating that NAMBLA "is a group that approves of consentual (sic) sexual relations between men and boys. NAMBLA is pleased that the topic of pedophilia has attracted so much attention through such a famous personage as Michael Jackson”.
VG then goes into a lengthy, historical apology for pedophilia listing examples of societies in history where pedophilia supposedly was considered normal. He then also lists a number of important historical figures and artists who were or suspected of being pedophiles.
We know that a lot of the crap thrown at MJ came from this pedophilia apologist, who tried to use MJ's popularity to push the NAMBLA agenda through to society. Dimond was one of VG's main channels - whether she let that happen out of ignorance or complicity, I don't know.
Remember that story with the Canadian boy about which Dimond acted like she "exposed a scam"?

The man in the video who set up the boy to make these false allegations is called Rodney Allen. He is in jail since - surprise, surprise, for child molestation. Now, a couple of years ago a fan, @tinklove05 contacted him in jail. He admitted to her to have had contacts with VG.
So that Canadian boy story likely originates from Dimond's "best source", VG as well. The plot failed, not because Dimond went there to expose anything, but because the boy crumbled during police interrogation and admitted it was all a lie.
That's what ended their story, so Dimond had no choice but twist it into this "we exposed a scam" story, but the original intention was not that. She went there to create another allegation against MJ.
As far as I know, detectives from Sneddon's circles, like Russ Birchim went with her too. I am sure the original idea was to have another accuser against MJ. It crumbled because the boy crumbled. Had he been a bit more skillful liar we would have had another allegation against MJ

The verdict. VG was ordered to pay MJ $2.7 million. He never paid it. He filed for bankruptcy and fled the country.
In 2005 he was paraded all over the media again as an "expert" on the MJ case, despite of having a verdict against him that he had lied about MJ. This again shows the futility of suing. Nothing ever happens to these people, even if they are found liable. No real consequences
BTW,Gutierrez did not show up for the verdict. He disappeared. When his lawyer was passed a note by the Jury why, this is the answer he gave: "Gutierrez is required to be here, but he has chosen not to be here, and you may draw whatever inferences you may from his nonappearance."
So this is the person Diane Dimond still defends and whose book she considers credible: a habitual liar and fantasist (that proven in court in not only one, but two different countries) and a pedophilia apologist.
I suspect that many of those shady ex-employees on Hard Copy in 1993-94 were brought to Diane by Gutierrez. After all Gutierrez told people that money in the tabloid business was easy even with stories that were not true. And Hard Copy paid people for those interviews.
